Digital Assets Manager (PT, Temp), LCAD (Laguna Beach, CA)
TERM: 15 hours per week for approximately 4 months, January 15 – May 31, 2013
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Digital Assets Manager will participate in a project to digitize, catalog, and provide access to portions of a collection of approximately 12,000 images demonstrating decades’ worth of student and faculty work which are part of the LCAD college archives. The materials will be uploaded to and cataloged in ARTstor’s Shared Shelf system. The individual will create, review and standardize descriptive information for images that adhere to national professional descriptive standards and thesauri in Shared Shelf.
Applicants should have a M.L.S. degree or be enrolled the final year year of an ALA-accredited Master’s degree program in Library and Information Science with significant course work and/or experience in digitization projects, cataloging, descriptive standards, and processing of visual and/or archival materials. Experience and/or coursework with digital
assets management, particularly with a focus in academic or special library setting, is desirable.
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate familiarity with ARTstor and its products or who have a background in studio art and/or graphic design.
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work independently to meet project goals and deadlines, exercise considerable judgment and initiative, and work collegially with supervisor, peers, and other staff. Highly developed organizational skills, with great attention to detail, are also critical for this position. Applicants should possess a strong
administrative aptitude with excellent record-keeping skills, including maintaining Excel spreadsheets and database management. Excellent communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and composition skills are also required.

Visual Resources Coordinator, Philadelphia University
-Familiarity with Photoshop, image creation/editing software, and photography in general.
-Strong attention to detail required.
-Knowledge of art, art history and/or architecture is ideal.
-Some photography or digital imaging experience preferred.
-Previous Library, ContentDM or MDID experience a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Use imaging software to create and edit high quality digital images from book or film scans in support of academic programs. Train and supervise student assistants. Help with Special Collections and other library projects as needed.

Digital Resources Coordinator & Cataloging Asst., MICA (Baltimore)
This position creates both original and copy catalog records for the moving image collection, and copy cataloging for the Decker Library. This position is also responsible for MRC user account maintenance and billing. This position reports directly to the Catalog Librarian.
- Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art or Art History
- Academic, special or visual resources library experience
- Library or archive cataloging experience
- Experience using Integrated Library Systems
- Excellent communication, organization, proof reading, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to solve problems and prioritize work effectively
- Ability to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively with colleagues, faculty and students
- Ability to plan and execute projects to completion
- Knowledge of LC classification and subject headings
- Must undergo a thorough background check
