Under the supervision of professional library and archives staff, interns will gain first-hand museum experience through participation in regular departmental activities ranging from research to routine administrative tasks. Each intern will also chose one individual library or archive project with a focus on cataloging, archives processing or reference services.
Throughout the summer, a series of programs and tours are scheduled that will provide students an opportunity to learn about other departments within a prestigious mid-sized cultural institution. There is no stipend, but interns receive two unlimited monthly metro cards. During the program, interns are eligible for regular employee discounts at the Museum restaurant, the retail store, invitations to exhibition openings and free admission to most other New York City museums.
QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Preferred candidates will be students who have already completed one semester of an ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS program, have an interest in American art, previous library experience and excellent administrative skills. If interested, please send, via e-mail, the following:
