The U of T Mississauga Library is seeking a contract Librarian with a background in Arts & Humanities and/or Social Sciences to work on a contract basis with a dedicated team of Librarians and Staff. The successful candidate will provide Reference and Research Services to students, faculty and community users on a variety of topics using print and electronic resources, assist with the development and instruction of Library users in a classroom setting, engage in collection development and liaise with faculty in assigned subject areas, and carry out other special projects as negotiated.Qualifications:
Qualifications and requirements
Required – Applicants must have an ALA-accredited Master of Library or Information Science degree or equivalent. Experience and willingness to work in a collegial environment is essential. Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated commitment to public service, initiative, flexibility and ability to work effectively under pressure.
Prefererred – Applicants should be knowledgeable in the provision of reference service using Arts, Humanities, and/or Social Sciences electronic and print resources, and should have experience doing classroom-based library instruction and liaison with faculty. Work experience in an academic library is preferred. The successful candidates will have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy the challenge of a dynamic and busy workplace.
