Position: Arts Circulation Assistant

Salary: $16.35-$18.38

Job Summary
One of three supervisors responsible for assisting in carrying out all functions of the Circulation desk including the circulation of material, patron orientation, preliminary reference service (in the absence of a librarian), and the security of the Arts Library during daylight hours, nights, weekends, and holidays. Supervises 7-13 student assistants, enforces and clarifies library policies, solves problems, and handles complaints. Opens and closes the building, and assists with Reserves. Responsible for stack maintenance. Processes material sent to Arts Library from Davidson Library. Processes bindery, mending, cataloging, etc., from Arts to Davidson. Responds to and escalates emergencies that arise. Works on the Music Service desk on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Requirements Previous library or related work experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and to work effectively with a wide variety of people. Supervisory experience required. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skill: demonstrated ability to perform accurate, detailed work independently. Demonstrated use of computers and software.
Desirable Requirements Experience with online integrated library systems. Bachelor’s degree and knowledge of Western European languages highly desirable. Knowledge of art and music desirable.
