Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree required in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
-Minimum of one year experience working in a historic costume and textiles collection, with demonstrated knowledge of museum-standard object handling practices
-Basic knowledge of design history and costume terminology
-Experience cataloging costume and textiles using TMS, PastPerfect, or similar databases
-Professional experience photographing historic dress on mannequins for publicity purposes, including knowledge of equipment and studio set-up
-Ability to climb ladders, kneel, and lift up to 40 pounds
Responsibilities: Serve as FHCC Digital Archivist; supervise the planning and implementation of digitization project; develop a thorough knowledge of TMS software; develop and implement collection inventory protocol; administer TMS training to interns, co-ops, and work study students to ensure consistent data entry.
Professionally set-up and manage a dedicated photography studio, working in conjunction with collection manager to prepare objects for photography; photograph objects using proper procedures for specialized lighting needs; use best practices to handle fragile paper items to scan for digitization; when necessary, edit photographs and scanned images for color/tonal accuracy.
Manage and maintain data storage and organization; transfer files between databases; work with curator and collection manager to develop and implement an online catalog of the FHCC collection; research object provenance utilizing FHCC archives and/or outside sources; correct discrepancies between object tags, files, and database records; ensure that label information is correct based on findings.
